“A pair of socks is no less suitable to make a painting with than wood, nails, turpentine, oil and fabric.” -Robert Rauschenberg

An artwork can have an interesting physical identity or it can exist for the sake of exploring aesthetics and materials. An innate feeling in us reacts to these qualities. They can be pleasing to the eye or to the touch (but please do not touch the artworks). Art making can give us endless possibilities. This exhibition is composed of artworks exploring many concepts; medium-specific engagement, identity, migration, family legacies and labour to name a few. Nevertheless, all of these artworks create an experience by relating to one another in their physicality and their ingenuity in the exploration of materials.
